APSBF Letter to the World
31 Jul 2021
I am writing to you as President of the Asia Pacific Snooker & Billiards Federation – formerly the Oceania Billiards & Snooker Federation – to clarify any confusion which has arisen about my Federation's change of name.
In May 2019 at an Annual General Meeting of the Oceania Billiards & Snooker Federation, the members of the Federation voted unanimously to change its constitution and to change its name to the Asia Pacific Snooker & Billiards Federation. Since that time the APSBF has been accepted as a member of the Organisation of Sports Federations of Oceania https://www.osfoceania.org/our-members/.
The change of name was designed to reinvigorate our Federation. I have reassured the IBSF Executive on several occasions that the APSBF is not seeking to encroach upon the Asian Confederation of Billiard Sports or its members.
Our intention is, and continues to be, to extend invitations to all countries in the Asia Pacific region to send up to four players each to the annual APSBF regional championships. Our championships carry with them a WPBSA tour ticket. The APSBF believe that the involvement of players from countries outside of the APBSF members will enhance our competitions and is in the best interests of the APSBF members' players and our regional body.
If you have any questions about any of this, please feel free to contact me.
Yours faithfully,
Frank Dewens
President Asia Pacific Snooker & Billiards Federation
